Description

This is coming from someone who favs a lot in her original account and doesn't care if receives a lot of faves:

Although I understand that people can't comment sometimes because they're busy at that moment or can't think of any meaningful comment to post, what annoys me is that when artists complain about the lack of feedback (especially when they submit drawings they've worked hard on), people (specifically some fav-n-runners) try to justify saying that they should be grateful that they receive a lot of faves and not comments, and that they're "compliments". Although it's true in some cases*, faves don't let the artists know why you liked the drawings, tell them how to improve if they depict flaws, show them tutorials nor make them start a conversation with you (unless an artist posts "Thx for the fav" comments but people usually flag/hide them).

Besides, it's ironic that artists can disable notifications for mentions and badges (including llamas) but not the ones for favourites. (I made a visual suggestion 3 months ago fav.me/d8me4qg )

"But what about the "Request Critique" widget? Can't they enable it?"
Only premium members can enable it and not everyone has enough points/money to buy a premium membership.

"The artists should request comments in a nice way!"
Although I agree with this one, some people don't bother to check their profiles/read the descriptions and just go and fav-n-run anyway.

*= There are people who fav works for different reasons:
- To add them to their fail collections.
- For lulz (especially if the comments section contains drama or the work contains controversial content/bullshit/absurd humor.)
- Just to get popularity, without even bothering to look well at the pictures they faved (Yeah, this type of people exists.).

Plus, faves aren't a "compliment" when 1.) an otherwise completely innocuous work is being faved into someone's fetish folder (I say this as I've literally witnessed someone's vent art being faved into some kind of "quicksand fetish" folder), and 2.) especially when it's in the form of a fave-spam
Not only is the latter a complete waste of inbox space (I've had a time when I got like 200+ feedback notifications only to see that 99% of it were faves, most of them from one person that was done seconds apart from each other), but it just makes it seem like they don't care about the work, hence why sometimes a deviation gets more faves than views, lol
